The General Department for Drug Control (GDDC) has arrested three suspects found in possession of narcotics, psychotropic substances and liquor intended for sale and personal use, and traced assets and cash worth about KD 401,000 that it said were proceeds of their trafficking.
The arrests followed extensive surveillance and investigation, the department said in a statement, as part of continuing efforts to combat drugs, track down dealers and follow the proceeds of illegal activity, including the various methods used to conceal or disguise them.
Investigations showed that the suspects had concealed and disguised the proceeds of their activity, converting part of the revenue from the sale of psychotropic substances and liquor into high-value items, including expensive watches and gold, while keeping cash from the sales, the statement said.
The following items were seized:
120 Lyrica capsules150 grams of Lyrica powder60 psychotropic pills3 bottles of liquorKD 40,000 in cash from the sale of psychotropic substances and liquor4 expensive watches valued at around KD 50,000, obtained through the sale of psychotropic substances and liquor7 kg of gold worth about KD 311,000, obtained through the sale of psychotropic substances and liquor1 precision scale
All the suspects and the seized items were referred to the competent authorities for the necessary legal action, the department said.
